You may have seen the picture I shared in my garden planning post of my flooded backyard. If you didn't see it before, have a look-see.
Our yard needs help. In a major major way. I know that we got more rain last year than usual, but I also think that the fact that we didn't fertilize our lawn last year could have contributed to the excessive amount of sloppiness back there. The thing is, the front lawn is pretty soft as well. Two summers ago, we did fertilize the lawn, mostly to get rid of the dandelions (oh I HATE dandelions!) and we didn't have nearly as big of a water problem. I plan on fertilizing this year, to try to see if it helps in any way in the back yard, and I know it'll help our lawn look more lovely this year in the front.
I was out shopping yesterday for some various home supplies & was distracted by the new stuff in the gardening & outdoor section. One of the cool new things I encountered was the Scotts® Snap® Spreader System. This thing looks amazing! When I fertilized a couple of years ago, I used a hand-held spreader, which was very heavy when full & hard to handle by myself. Plus, I had to keep stopping to refill it by pouring fertilizer into it from a giant heavy bag. And if you spill this stuff, it'll usually kill whatever it's spilled on. That's why you need to spread it out correctly. Yes, we did have a giant bald spot in our yard that year where I spilled fertilizer while trying to fill my hand-held spreader.
Anyway, the Scotts® Snap® Spreader System looks so easy to use! All you need is the spreader & a Snap Pac bag, which are made to fit securely in the spreader & you're ready to go! The Snap Pac bags don't need to be dumped into the spreader, so there's no rick of spilling & killing your grass. The spreader also has a unique EdgeGuard feature that keeps the product where you want it. Then when you're done, the Snap Pac self seals when you remove it from the spreader, so you're not sticking a wide open half empty bag of seed in your garage to be knocked over & ruined. So nice right!?
If you plan on fertilizing your lawn this year, you really should check out the Scotts® Snap® Spreader System. Also, check out Snap perks on Facebook & if you "like" them, they will let you know about Scotts great promotions & contests.
